Our Teachers

MS. ARROYO- SOCIAL STUDIES/ECS
B.S.- UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS CHICAGO

Arroyo previously worked with UIC College Prep to help with student recruitment and enrollment.  She also worked with Americorp and as a tour guide for UIC.  Arroyo is a Noble Street alum and graduated in Noble’s first graduating class of 2003.  She is a Chicago native and advocate for her community.

MS. BELL- HEALTH SCIENCE
B.S.- THE JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY
M.A.T.- THE JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY

Most recently, Bell supported and trained 38 new teachers in CPS as a Program Director for Teach For America.  Previously she taught in the Baltimore Public Schools.  She is a Teach For America alum.  Bell was also a member of her school improvement team and started annual spelling bee and step team.  

MR. CARTWRIGHT- PHYSICAL EDUCATION
B.S.- CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY- FULLERTON

Cartwright previously worked in the City of Irvine’s Parks and Recreation as a Community Service Leader for the past 6 years.   Cartwright also coached high school football and basketball in Irvine, CA over the past seven years.  Most recently Cartwright was the Adult Basketball Coordinator for the City of Irvine.  Cartwright was also a collegiate football athlete.  

MS. CLARK- LEARNING SPECIALIST
B.S.- THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY
M.A.- AMERICAN UNIVERSITY

Clark was previously a Learning Specialist and case manager over the past two years in Washington D.C.    She taught general education math, resource math and English.  Clark is a Teach For America alum.  Previous career as an engineer for Motorola and a recipient of Women in Engineering award.

MS. COHN- SOCIAL WORKER LCSW
B.S.-UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN
M.A.- UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO

Cohn has engaged in outreach work over the past 10 years and has been a social worker for the past 6 years with the Swedish Covenant Hospital in school -based health clinics, Erie Teen Health Center.  Most recenlty, Cohn was the social worker at the original campus of Noble St.

MS. GIESLER- HEALTH SCIENCE
B.S.- INDIANA UNIVERSITY
M.A.T.- DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY

Previosly, Giesler was a national recruitment director for Teach For America.  She taught reading, math and science at a Chicago International Charter School.  Giesler is a marathon competitor and an Academic All-American and NCAA All American in Track and Field.  She also graduated with highest distinction.  

MRS. HAZARD- DATA CONSULTANT
B.S.- VALPARAISO
M.B.A.- DUKE UNIVERSITY

Hazard recently completed her MBA and finished the Fund Fellow internship as a strategy consultant with CPS’s Office of Math and Science for the Chicago Public Education Fund.  Previously she was the 2nd VP for Northern Trust as an Investment Risk consultant.

MS. KEARNS- ENGLISH
B.S.- MARQUETTE UNIVERSITY

Kearns previously taught English in New Haven, CT.  She is a Teach For America alum.  She also was a social work intern at a Milwaukee prison, President of Honor Society and a Big Sister.  Chicago native.  This past summer she trained new teachers in planning and classroom management in Philadelphia.  

MS. MARSHALL- ENGLISH
B.S.- UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS- CHAMPAIGN-URBANA
M.S..- UNIVERSITY OF NEVADA- LAS VEGAS

Marshall recently taught English in Las Vegas, Nevada.  She is a Teach For America alum and summer program coordinator.  Marshall is fluent in reading, writing and speaking in Spanish.  Marshall was also her English department chair and the founder of a leadership club, peer tutoring program and literary magazine at current school.  

MSgt PYLES- ROTC
B.S.- DeVRY UNIVERSITY

MSgt Pyles recently retired from the United States Marine Corps.  He was an Infantryman, Close Quarters and Anti-Terrorism Instructor, Platoon Sergeant, Station Commander and a Career Cecruiter.  Also, Pyles was a police officer for the Forrest Park Police Department. 


MS. ROSALES- BIOLOGY
B.S.- BRIGHAM YOUNG UNIVERSITY
ED.M.- PACE UNIVERSITY

Rosales recently taught science in the NYC public schools.  She was also involved with school’s Leadership Team.  Previously Rosales was a scientist for a sports nutrition company.  She is a Teach For America alum, a Chicago native and bilingual (Spanish).  Also worked on the development team for the NYC DOE middle school science curriculum.

MR. SAKEN- SOCIAL STUDIES/ECS
B.S.- HARVARD UNIVERSITY
M.Ed.- UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS CHICAGO

Saken recently taught social studies in Elkhart, IN.  Previously taught Spanish and U.S. History.   Saken initiated the school’s recycling club and co-chairs a bully prevention program.  He also coaches baseball and basketball and was a collegiate basketball and professional baseball player. 

MR. SKAJ- MATH
B.S.- UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS

Skaj completed his fourth year as a math teacher and advisor at the original campus of Noble St.  Skaj is also a Golden Apple Scholar and recently a National Board applicant.  He also was a former Karate instructor.  Currently Skaj is also a writer and actor for comedy group in Chicago.

MS. THOMAS- MATH
B.S.- ILLINOIS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
M.B.A.- LOYOLA UNIVERSITY

Thomas has been a college lecturer at the University of Colorado and high school teacher over the past nine years.  Thomas has also co-authored and edited a math textbook.  Before her work in education, she was a mechanical engineer and manager.

MS. ULETT
B.S.- SEATTLE PACIFIC UNIVERSITY
M.S..- BOSTON UNIVERSITY

Ulett recently was the Director of Middle and High school choirs at an international school in Argentina.  Previously, Ulett has taught music at the elementary, high school and collegiate levels over the past 26 years.  Ulett is a music performer and founder of numerous music schools and programs.
